Fuel stations and car washes
A forecourt or car wash already has the access road, the payment and the opening hours, so the bike wash uses space that is there anyway. Veloquence GmbH’s first site was an Aral forecourt on the Vennbahn cycle route in Aachen, with a cycleWASH Pro (CarwashPro, 2023). Autowaschcenter Klaeser put one at its car wash in Herne (WAZ, 2022), and the car-wash chain Mr. Wash has tested a Pro at its Mülheim an der Ruhr site (CarwashPro, 2025). The Touring Club Suisse runs a Pro between its car wash bays: self-service, card-paid and unattended.
Towns and public space
Public sites offer the wash as a service to cyclists, most often free of charge. In Boston, cycleWASH installed a machine on Boston Planning Department land at Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park in April 2025, at no cost to the city, and it was offered free to the public (Boston Herald editorial, 2025). A free cycleWASH bike wash opened at Essen’s Krayer Volksgarten in 2023 (familienausflug24.de). At cycling days the machine comes to the crowd: Vienna’s Mobilitätsagentur listed a cycleWASH bike wash among its Fahrrad Wien events (2019), and at the Sattel-Fest in Hamm bikes were washed for a donation to a hospice (Stadt Hamm).
Bike shops
For a bike shop it is a service that can run around the clock. Pedalhelden on Marsstraße in Munich opened a Mini Platinum in 2020: semi-automatic, cashless and usable day and night (Süddeutsche Zeitung, 2020). Bike Market Rostock opened the first bike wash in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with a Mini Platinum (Ostsee-Zeitung, 2022), and Radwelt Coesfeld counted nearly 500 washes in six months (Allgemeine Zeitung, 2026). In Belgium, the operator VeloWash lists wash sites at Urban Bike Store in Antwerp, E-Bike Store Asse, Fietscafé ’t Velohofke in Tongeren-Borgloon and Dinasport in Zulte.
Hotels and company sites
In Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, a bike wash opened at the Gasthof Rebstock in 2021, operated by Fahrradverleih Friedrichshafen (Schwäbische Zeitung, 2021). At Salewa’s headquarters in Bolzano, the Oberalp Group opened Italy’s first fully automated self-service bike wash in August 2022, a cycleWASH Pro (Oberalp; trekking.it, 2022).
Cycle stations and mobile fleets
In Witten, Wabe mbH has offered a cycleWASH at its bike station and RadCafé, and its own video credits the machine to the Cologne start-up. Veloquence in Aachen shows how one operator spreads five machines: one on permanent loan to Radwelt Coesfeld, one at a petrol station, two for mobile hire and one for demonstrations (Allgemeine Zeitung, 2026).
