Toegankelijkheid: hoe cycleWASH-stations alle fietsers bedienen
How cycleWASH stations serve all cyclists — adaptive bikes, hand cycles, and accessibility features.
Frequently asked questions
Is cycleWASH accessible for riders with disabilities?
Yes. The control panel sits at 1.1m height, operable from a wheelchair. The start button requires under 2N force — no grip strength needed. On-screen prompts are available in 12 languages plus pictograms, and audible confirmations guide blind and low-vision users through each cycle step.
Can adaptive bikes and handcycles fit?
Yes. The wash bay accommodates frames up to 2.2m long and 0.9m wide, which covers most handcycles, recumbents, and three-wheel cargo bikes. For unusual geometries, the OASIS version offers a larger bay.
Does it meet public-building accessibility standards?
The Mini and Pro are designed to DIN 18040-1 (German accessibility in public buildings) and BS 8300 (UK equivalent). We can provide the compliance dossier on request for municipal procurement.
How do riders with limited dexterity pay?
Contactless NFC tap works with phones, transit cards, and dedicated RFID fobs that attach to a keyring or wheelchair. No pin entry required. For fleets, pre-authorized fobs remove the payment step entirely.
